Injury-depleted Kings surprise Hornets (AP)

For three quarters, Bobby Jackson did nothing to make the New Orleans Hornets pay for trading him last February. Then he showed them exactly what they were missing in the fourth. John Salmons scored 29 points, and Jackson had all eight of his points in the final 5:10 to help the injury-depleted Sacramento Kings surprise the New Orleans Hornets 105-96 on Wednesday night.

Michael Finley scored 21 points and Tim Duncan had 20, including two key baskets in the final minute, in the San Antonio Spurs' 90-88 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Sunday night. Duncan's short jumper tied it with 49 seconds left and his bank shot off a drive put San Antonio ahead for good at 90-88 with 15.5 seconds remaining.




O'Neal helps Suns beat Kings 97-95 in OT (AP)
Shaquille O'Neal tied a season high with 29 points and had 13 rebounds and six assists Friday night to help the short-handed Phoenix Suns beat the Sacramento Kings 97-95 in overtime Friday night. Amare Stoudemire was the star in overtime for the Suns. He had six points, including the winner, and blocked a shot at the buzzer to preserve the seal it.

Barbosa leaves Suns after mother dies
Phoenix Suns guard Leandro Barbosa returned to Brazil after his mother died. He flew to his hometown of Sao Paulo late Thursday after learning of the death of his mother, Ivete Barbosa. Team officials are not sure when Barbosa will return. His mother had been ill, and he missed two weeks of training camp because she was hospitalized. He was 80. Axelson died on Saturday at his home in Coronado, his son, David Axelson, said Sunday. The cause of death was not immediately determined. Axelson received the NBA's first executive of the year award, in 1973 as GM of the Kansas City-Omaha Kings.

Mavericks sign free agent G Lue (AP)
The Dallas Mavericks signed free agent Tyronn Lue on Tuesday to be their backup point guard. Terms of the deal weren't disclosed. The Sacramento Kings waived Lue on Friday. He was acquired from Atlanta on Feb. 16, but never played for the Kings. Lue averaged 6.8 points, 1.8 assists, 1.2 rebounds over 17 minutes in 33 games for the Hawks.

Knee injury sidelines Wright for season
A knee injury will sideline Dorell Wright for the remainder of the season, the latest piece of bad news to hit the reeling Miami Heat. Wright had surgery Monday to repair a left meniscus tear, which he suffered in the second quarter of Miami's 120-109 loss Sunday night at the Sacramento Kings. Miami wasted a 23-point second-half lead and fell to 11-46, the worst record in the NBA. The Heat said Wright would be in a straight-leg brace for one month, and will begin rehabilitation immediately.

Wallace to have more tests after concussion
Charlotte Bobcats forward Gerald Wallace has been suffering from headaches and drowsiness since he was knocked unconscious in a game Friday. Wallace has been experiencing post-concussion symptoms that include soreness in his neck and jaw, the team said Monday. He's scheduled to be examined by a neurologist this week. It's unclear when he'll be able to play again. Wallace was hit in the face by an inadvertent elbow by Sacramento forward Mikki Moore during Friday's loss to the Kings.

The health of Bobcats forward Gerald Wallace was the focus after the Sacramento Kings used a frantic finish to beat Charlotte. Wallace was knocked unconscious and had to be wheeled off on a stretcher. That the Kings got 22 points and 14 rebounds from Brad Miller and then overcame Miller's late turnover to edge the Bobcats 116-115 in overtime was an afterthought.
