Danny Granger isn't ready to consider himself an NBA star just yet. But the Indiana Pacers' fourth-year swingman is certainly playing like one. Granger scored 34 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter, and the Pacers beat the slumping Atlanta Hawks 113-96 on Tuesday night. "He's got that killer instinct for a scorer," said Indiana center Rasho Nesterovic, who added 21 points.

Warriors extend Jackson through 2012-13
Stephen Jackson is one person the Golden State Warriors consider part of their long-term plans. Golden State has signed its leading scorer to a three-year contract extension announced Monday, a deal that takes the explosive guard-forward through the 2012-13 season. Thaddeus Young had 25 points and 10 rebounds and the Philadelphia 76ers overcame a 26-point deficit to beat the Indiana Pacers 94-92 on Friday night. Andre Miller added 19 points, Elton Brand had 14 points and 15 rebounds, and Andre Iguodala finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds for the 76ers (4-5).




Thunder's Durant out vs. Magic
Kevin Durant missed the Oklahoma City Thunder's game against the Orlando Magic on Wednesday night because of a sore left ankle. Coach P.J. Carlesimo said Durant will be day-to-day and his status for Friday's game at New York is up in the air. Desmond Mason started in his place against Orlando. Harris to miss 2nd straight game for Nets
New Jersey guard Devin Harris has been ruled out of Monday's game against the Miami Heat because of continued problems with a sprained left ankle. Danny Granger scored 23 points to lead the Indiana Pacers to a 98-80 victory over the New Jersey Nets on Saturday night. Granger shot just 6-for-17 from the field, but made 10 of 12 free throws for the Pacers (2-3). He entered the game as the NBA's No. 2 scorer. Indiana guard T.J. Ford nearly had a triple-double, but settled for 13 points, nine rebounds and eight assists.

Harris scored a career-high 38 points in New Jersey's win over the Detroit Pistons on Friday night. He ranks second on the team with 18.8 points per game. Indiana was missing guard/forward Mike Dunleavy (sore right knee) and center Rasho Nesterovic (sprained right ankle).

LeBron James scored 27 points and Anderson Varejao added a career-high 18, including 10 in the fourth quarter, as the Cleveland Cavaliers rallied to beat the Indiana Pacers 111-107 on Friday night. Stoudemire scores 49 as Suns beat Pacers (AP)
Amare Stoudemire scored 49 points, falling a point short of his career high in the Phoenix Suns' 113-103 victory over Indiana on Wednesday night. Stoudemire was 17-for-21 from the field, made 15 free throws without a miss and had 11 rebounds, six assists and five steals. He just missed his career high of 50 points, set against Portland on Jan.

Pacers, Granger agree to extension
The Indiana Pacers have signed forward Danny Granger to a contract extension. The 6-foot-9 Granger has averaged 13.7 points per game in his three seasons. Last year, he registered career-best averages in points (19.6), rebounds (6.1), steals (1.1) and 3-point field goal percentage (.404). He was the Pacers' first-round draft pick - 17th overall - in the 2005 NBA Draft. The Indiana Pacers couldn't have scripted it better. Pacers president Larry Bird brought in seven new players in the offseason to improve the team's talent level and overhaul its image after numerous off-the-court incidents the past several years. Pistons' Curry wins coaching debut (AP)
Michael Curry wants the Detroit Pistons to project a new image, consistently attacking on offense and playing hard on defense. After Game One, it's a work in progress. The Detroit Pistons played well enough to build big leads only to allow the Indiana Pacers to rally before beating them 100-94 Wednesday night in the opener for both teams.

Pacers waive veteran F Croshere (AP)
The Indiana Pacers waived veteran forwards Austin Croshere and Josh Davis on Thursday, cutting their roster to 15 players. Croshere, a first-round draft pick by Indiana in 1997, played nine seasons for the Pacers and averaged 7.5 points a game. He was traded to Dallas in 2006 for Marquis Daniels and played for Golden State last season.

Danny Granger had 18 points and rookies Brandon Rush and Roy Hibbert scored 15 points apiece, leading the Indiana Pacers to a 100-93 victory over the Dallas Mavericks in a preseason game on Wednesday night. Jeff Foster finished with 10 points and nine rebounds, and T.J. Ford and Jarrett Jack each scored 10 for Indiana, which evened its preseason record at 2-2.

Mavs coach Carlisle returns to Indiana (AP)
Rick Carlisle sounds much more relaxed these days. The former Pacers coach spent much of his time in Indiana answering questions about Ron Artest and the team's chronic off-the-court problems and injuries. He went from leading the Pacers to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2004 to getting fired following the 2006-07 season after the Pacers missed the playoffs.

Rookie guard O.J. Mayo scored 26 points, including six 3-pointers, to lead the Memphis Grizzlies to a 103-95 victory over the Indiana Pacers on Monday night. Mayo, the third pick in the NBA Draft, shook off a shooting slump from long range to allow the Grizzlies to win their second straight preseason game.




Pacers' Foster signs contract extension (AP)
Veteran center Jeff Foster signed a contract extension with the Indiana Pacers on Friday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The 6-foot-11 Foster was a first-round pick by Golden State in 1999 and came to Indiana in a trade following the draft. He has spent his entire 10-year career with the Pacers, averaging 5 points and 7 rebounds.

Pacers offload troubled F Williams to Mavericks
Dogged by three incidents involving police in the past 13 months, Shawne Williams has been traded by the Indiana Pacers to Dallas for future draft picks, cash and possibly another player, his agent said Friday.

Pacers won't comment on reported Tinsley deal
The Indiana Pacers declined to comment Friday on a report that point guard Jamaal Tinsley would be traded to Denver for Steven Hunter and Chucky Atkins. Pacers president Larry Bird downplayed the report, which appeared in Friday's New York Post, saying the team wouldn't comment on "trade rumors" involving any of its players. Hunter's agent, Mark Bartelstein, denied his client was involved in the reported deal. Bird: Pacers still committed to trading Tinsley
Jamaal Tinsley will remain on the Pacers roster while the team tries to trade him, but the guard won't practice with Indiana when it opens training camp Tuesday. The team will not buy out Tinsley's contract, Pacers president Larry Bird said Friday. "He will stay wherever he's at until we get something done. Jamaal knows that, his agent knows it and we know it," Bird said. "Nothing has changed from what we said at the beginning of the year. Lakers sign free agent F Powell (AP)
The Los Angeles Lakers signed free-agent forward Josh Powell on Thursday. Terms of the contract weren't released. The 6-foot-9 Powell, a three-year NBA veteran, spent last season with the Los Angeles Clippers, averaging 5.5 points and 5.2 rebounds in 64 games. Powell has career averages of 4.2 points and 3.6 rebounds in 138 games with Dallas, Indiana, Golden State and the Clippers.

Free-agent Murray nabs deal with Hawks
The Atlanta Hawks signed free-agent guard Ronald "Flip" Murray on Wednesday. Murray, a six-year veteran, can play both guard spots. He joins Maurice Evans as free-agent additions to the backcourt after the Hawks lost sixth man Josh Childress, who stunned the team last month by signing with Greek powerhouse Olympiakos. The 6-foot-3 Murray was released by Detroit last season before signing with Indiana. He started the final 15 games of the season at point guard for the Pacers. He averaged 11.

76ers add free agent sharpshooter Rush
The Philadelphia 76ers signed free agent guard Kareem Rush on Tuesday to help bolster the team's 3-point shooting. Terms of the deal were not released. The 6-foot-6, 215-pound Rush has averaged 6.8 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 314 games in five NBA seasons. Last season with the Indiana Pacers, he averaged 8.3 points, a career-best 2.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 21.2 minutes per game and shot 39 percent from 3-point range.

Williams' future with Indiana uncertain
Police arrested a passenger in a car driven by Shawne Williams of the Indiana Pacers for marijuana possession, an incident that team president Larry Bird said jeopardizes the forward's future with the Pacers. Williams was not arrested but was written up for a window tint and seat belt violation after the police stop about 6 p.m. Friday in Carmel, said Lt. Jeff Horner, a spokesman for police in the northern Indianapolis suburb. The car did not belong to Williams.

Police arrested a passenger in a car driven by Shawne Williams of the Indiana Pacers for marijuana possession, an incident that team president Larry Bird said jeopardizes the forward's future with the Pacers.

Cavs ink marksman Gibson to 5-year deal
The Cavaliers finally made a move this offseason, signing sharpshooter Daniel Gibson to a five-year contract Wednesday. Bringing back Gibson, a restricted free agent, was one of Cleveland's top priorities. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The guard averaged a career-high 10.4 points on 43 percent shooting last season. He sprained his left ankle in a Feb. 20 game at Indiana and missed 18 games.

Pacers sign Hibbert, Rush to rookie deals
Roy Hibbert and Brandon Rush gave Indiana Pacers coach Jim O'Brien what they thought was the right answer about their expectations heading into their rookie NBA seasons. Each said he wanted to just fit in and not step on anybody's feet. "I'm not interested in these guys coming in to fit in and not step on anybody's feet," O'Brien said Tuesday. Oops. "As a matter of fact, I'd like them to compete for starting jobs.

The Indiana Pacers have suspended center David Harrison for one game for conduct detrimental to the team. The Pacers gave no reason for the suspension, but the announcement Friday comes a day after Harrison was involved in a confrontation late in a game against San Antonio. Harrison was called for a technical as he yelled at an official after being hit in the face by Spurs forward Matt Bonner. Pacers coach Jim O'Brien pulled Harrison from the game, but he was later escorted to the locker room.

Isiah's son charged with illegal alcohol consumption
New York Knicks coach Isiah Thomas' 19-year-old son has been arrested for underage drinking. Joshua Isiah Thomas was charged with illegal consumption of alcohol and being a minor in a tavern, both Class C misdemeanors; and disorderly conduct, a Class B misdemeanor, early Tuesday morning, according to Bloomington police. The younger Thomas is a student at Indiana University, where his father won a national championship in 1981. Joshua Thomas doesn't play basketball at the school.

Report: Son of Knicks coach arrested in Bloomington
The New York Knicks said coach Isiah Thomas wouldn't comment Friday on a report that his 19-year-old son was arrested for underage drinking in Bloomington, Ind. Joshua Thomas, a student at Indiana University, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct, illegal consumption of alcohol and being a minor in a tavern, according to the New York Daily News. He was released from the Monroe County Jail on $500 bail.

Michael Redd scored 37 points and Andrew Bogut had 17 points and 11 rebounds, leading the Milwaukee Bucks to a 104-92 victory over the Indiana Pacers on Thursday night. Redd scored 10 in the fourth quarter, playing every minute of the second half and 45 minutes overall as the Bucks won for only the second time in eight games.

Kirk Hinrich scored a career-high 38 points, and the Chicago Bulls beat the Indiana Pacers 108-95 on Wednesday night even though their two best players were injured. The Bulls learned earlier in the day that forward Luol Deng would miss one to three weeks because of his recurring left Achilles' tendinitis.
