Steve Nash scored only 13 points but hit two shots in the final 14 seconds and the Phoenix Suns won their seventh straight meeting against Utah, 107-105 on Wednesday night to jump over the Jazz in the Western Conference playoff race. The Suns (28-26) are in ninth place, a half-game ahead of the Jazz (28-27) and a game behind Denver, which lost Wednesday at New Orleans, and idle Houston.

Jazz coach Tyrone Corbin said before the game that Josh Howard will start at small forward and Gordon Hayward will move to shooting guard. Bell is averaging 7.4 points per game and has hit a 3-pointer in 18 consecutive games, the longest active streak in the NBA.

Chris Paul was shocked to learn the Los Angeles Clippers hadn't won in Utah since 2003. He made sure that slate was wiped clean Wednesday night, scoring a season-high 34 points in the Clippers' 107-105 victory over the Jazz. The win ended a string of 16 straight losses in Salt Lake City, where the Clippers had prevailed just once in the previous 39 meetings.

Gordon Hayward certainly could have been the goat Monday night after moving over to shooting guard for the Utah Jazz and tossing up nothing but bricks early. Yet the second-year pro kept playing and hustling, and it ultimately paid off in a 93-89 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers. Hayward shook off an 0-for-8 start to finish with 12 points.

The Utah Jazz have completed their coaching staff by hiring Sidney Lowe. Lowe spent the past five seasons as head coach at his alma mater, North Carolina State. He also was a teammate of Jazz coach Tyrone Corbin when they played for the Minnesota Timberwolves in 1989-90. As a player, Lowe was a second-round pick of the Chicago Bulls.
