Nets F Hayes out against Trail Blazers (AP)
New Jersey Nets starting forward Jarvis Hayes has been scratched from the game against the Portland Trail Blazers with a strained left calf. Hayes was hurt in the third quarter of Monday night's loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. Veteran Trenton Hassell replaced Hayes in the starting lineup on Tuesday night.

Ginobili's 21 lift Spurs over Nets (AP)

Manu Ginobili scored 21 points to lead the San Antonio Spurs to a 97-85 victory over the New Jersey Nets on Sunday night. Ginobili ignited the slow-starting Spurs (22-13) with an array of shots: fadeaways, dunks, a 3-pointer, and an off-the-glass field goal. He also made all eight of his free throw attempts.

Nets G Douglas-Roberts has knee injury (AP)
Coach Kiki Vandeweghe says the New Jersey Nets are awaiting results of an MRI that Chris Douglas-Roberts had on his left knee. Vandeweghe wasn't sure how Douglas-Roberts, who scored seven points in 38 minutes of a 107-91 loss Friday at Indiana, was injured. Trenton Hassell started in Douglas-Roberts' small forward spot Sunday against Atlanta.

Carter lifts Nets over Heat in London (AP)

Vince Carter made three free throws in the final 10 seconds to help the New Jersey Nets hold on for a 94-92 win over the Miami Heat in an NBA preseason game. Carter finished with 19 points and Yi Jianlian added another 19 for the Nets (2-0) in a game that treated the London crowd to a number of high-flying dunks but even more sloppy turnovers.

Carter's 32 points help Nets stay alive (AP)

No matter how much his right ankle hurts, Vince Carter is going to give the New Jersey Nets everything he can as long as they still have playoff hopes. A day after the ankle prevented him from playing against Detroit, Carter returned to the lineup and scored 32 points to lead the Nets to a 99-90 victory over the struggling Toronto Raptors on Saturday night.

Paul, Chandler power Hornets to victory (AP)

Hornets rookie Julian Wright sat in front of his locker with a bag of ice wrapped around his right wrist, which was sore for all the right reasons. Report: Nets, Mavs have new Kidd deal in place
Jason Kidd is headed to the Dallas Mavericks after all, although in a trade that's slightly different than originally arranged. The new deal — as reported by various media outlets Sunday night, all citing anonymous sources — has Kidd and forward Malik Allen going to Dallas for point guard Devin Harris, center DeSagana Diop and swingman Maurice Ager, plus a few new pieces — retired forward Keith Van Horn and Trenton Hassell.

Wolves, Mavericks swap backup guards (AP)
The Minnesota Timberwolves traded guard Trenton Hassell to the Dallas Mavericks for guard Greg Buckner on Friday night. Hassell, who spent the last four seasons with the Wolves, averaged 6.7 points per game and three rebounds in 476 games. In 2006-07, he played in 76 games and averaged 6.7 points and 3.2 rebounds.
