Wizards waive 40-year-old Massenburg
The Washington Wizards waived Tony Massenburg on Sunday, ending the 40-year-old's bid at a comeback. Massenburg was hoping to play for what would have been an NBA-record 13th franchise. But he averaged two points, 1.8 rebounds and only 8.3 minutes in four preseason games. For his career, Massenburg averaged 6.2 points and 4.3 rebounds over 13 NBA seasons. He was out of the league the past two seasons after breaking his left ankle in a car crash.

Tony Massenburg is excited about a chance to return to the NBA -- even if he is 40. Massenburg signed with the Washington Wizards on Monday, a day before training camp opens, and if he makes the roster at the end of the month, he would have a chance to play for a league-record 13th franchise.
