A day after NBA fans finally found out where Orlando's biggest star would spend his immediate future, one of the teams long thought to be his preferred destination got a reminder of what they missed out on. Dwight Howard scored 18 points, Jameer Nelson and Glen Davis each had 13 and the Magic easily beat the New Jersey Nets 86-70 Friday night.

Chauncey Billups scored 26 points, including a trio of 3-pointers late in the game, and the Denver Nuggets beat the Detroit Pistons 109-100 on Wednesday night. Carmelo Anthony had 18 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists -- shaking off trade talk for another day -- to help the Nuggets win for the seventh time in nine games.

Hakim Warrick scored 21 points to lead a balanced attack, helping the Phoenix Suns overcome a 15-point, first-half deficit to beat the Denver Nuggets for the 12th straight time at home, 100-94 Monday night. Ty Lawson scored 22 of his 29 points during Denver's 49-point second quarter, and the depleted Nuggets overwhelmed the Phoenix Suns 144-106 on Friday night in the preseason finale for both teams. Denver, which also played Thursday night, rested starters Carmelo Anthony, Chauncey Billups and Nene -- and was without three other injured players, dressing only the minimum of eight.

Although he's playing for his fifth NBA team in five seasons, Shelden Williams seems to be settling in nicely with the Denver Nuggets. Signed by the Nuggets as a free agent in July, Williams has set himself up as the most likely candidate to rack up minutes at power forward early in the season as Kenyon Martin and Chris Andersen work their way back from offseason knee surgeries.

The Boston Celtics have signed free agent center/forward Shelden Williams to a contract. The Celtics did not disclose terms of the deal Friday, citing team policy. The 6-foot-9, 250-pound Williams was originally drafted by the Atlanta Hawks with the fifth overall pick in the 2006 draft. He was acquired by the Minnesota Timberwolves from the Sacramento Kings in February.

Hawks agree to acquire Bibby from Kings (AP)
The Atlanta Hawks have agreed to acquire veteran point guard Mike Bibby from the Sacramento Kings. Hawks owner Michael Gearon Jr. says the Hawks are to send four players to the Kings. Among them are 2007 first-round pick Shelden Williams and starting point guard Anthony Johnson. The Hawks also would send guard Tyronn Lue and veteran forward-center Lorenzen Wright to the Kings.

Two arrested in Williams carjacking
Two suspects were arrested and will be charged with carjacking Atlanta Hawks forward Shelden Williams at gunpoint. The men have been accused of five armed robberies near Atlanta and are being held at the Douglas County jail, police said Monday. They are to be charged in Fulton County on Williams' carjacking but first must answer to the charges in Douglas County. The suspects were identified as Bernard Moss and Darius Mathis, each 18 with an Atlanta address. They appeared in court Monday.

Atlanta forward Shelden Williams was carjacked at gunpoint Saturday before the Hawks' game against Charlotte. Douglasville City Police said two suspects were arrested late Saturday afternoon at Arbor Place Mall in Douglas County, near Atlanta. The suspects were in Williams' car and were attempting a robbery, according to an officer who answered the phone at the Douglasville Police Department.

Atlanta forward Shelden Williams was carjacked at gunpoint Saturday before the Hawks' game against Charlotte, a Fulton County Police spokesman confirmed. The Hawks said two suspects have been arrested in Douglas County. Hawks spokesman Arthur Triche says Williams provided police with his license plate number, leading to a search that led to two suspects being arrested in Williams' car at a mall in Douglas County. More details of the arrests were not immediately available.
