BOSTON (AP) Paul Pierce scored all 12 of his points in the first half despite missing most of it with a sprained toe and Rajon Rondo had 15 assists as the Boston Celtics closed the regular season with an 87-74 win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday night.

Dwight Howard had 20 points and 20 rebounds in three quarters of work, Ryan Anderson added 23 points and 16 rebounds and the Orlando Magic handed the Cleveland Cavaliers their 20th straight loss and 30th in 31 games, 103-87 on Sunday night. Timberwolves waive G West (AP)
The Minnesota Timberwolves have waived guard Delonte West. West was acquired from Cleveland with Sebastian Telfair on July 26 in a trade that sent point guard Ramon Sessions and center Ryan Hollins to the Cavaliers. But West's $4.6 million contract was guaranteed for only $500,000 if he was waived by Wednesday.

Al Jefferson rallied the Minnesota Timberwolves to their season-high fourth straight victory by scoring 16 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter for a 109-102 win Saturday night over the Memphis Grizzlies. Jefferson was quiet all night against steadily improving big man Marc Gasol, until the Grizzlies stretched their lead to seven points with 8 minutes left.

Kevin Love had a career-high 25 points to go with 11 rebounds and the Minnesota Timberwolves exacted a little payback on the New York Knicks with a 112-91 victory Sunday night. Ryan Hollins had 16 points and three blocks in his second straight strong game since being inserted into the starting lineup for the Timberwolves, who lost by 27 points at Madison Square Garden last week.

David Lee had 28 points and 10 rebounds, and the New York Knicks rebounded from a lopsided beating by administering one, routing the Minnesota Timberwolves 132-105 on Tuesday night. The NBA season is not yet a month old and it has already been a long one for the Minnesota Timberwolves. Luis Scola had 20 points and a season-high 16 rebounds in Houston's 97-84 victory over Timberwolves on Wednesday night, Minnesota's 11th loss in a row. A little confrontation woke Dirk Nowitzki right up. Nowitzki scored 15 of his 20 points in a tense third quarter and also grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Dallas Mavericks to a 89-77 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night. Nowitzki only had a quiet five points and five rebounds in the first half before jawing with Timberwolves rookie Jonny Flynn five minutes into the third.

Greg Oden sure looked like a franchise center Wednesday night. Oden had 18 points and 11 rebounds in three quarters to lead the Portland Trail Blazers to a 107-84 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Chris Bosh had nine points and seven rebounds in his first preseason game and Andrea Bargnani led Toronto with 21 points as the Raptors beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 112-97 on Friday night. Bosh was 4 for 8 from the field in 11 minutes in the first half after being sidelined all of training camp with a strained hamstring.

Dirk Nowitzki took out all sorts of frustrations on the Utah Jazz, hitting 16 of 20 shots and scoring 39 points to lead the Dallas Mavericks to a 115-108 victory Saturday night. Nowitzki's fire was stoked by Dallas having lost four straight and by his own problems against the Jazz -- as in getting suspended after two of his last three games against them, including last month.




Bobcats get Diop from Mavs for 2 players (AP)
The Charlotte Bobcats and coach Larry Brown continued to tinker with their roster Friday, acquiring 7-foot defensive specialist DeSagana Diop from the Dallas Mavericks for guard Matt Carroll and center Ryan Hollins. The Bobcats' second trade in just over a month wasn't nearly as big as the deal that sent top scorer Jason Richardson to Phoenix.

Dirk Nowitzki hit a key 3-pointer with less than 30 seconds to play and finished with 23 points to help the Dallas Mavericks beat the trade-depleted Charlotte Bobcats 95-90 on Thursday night. Jason Terry had 26 points for the Mavericks, 10-0 against the Bobcats. Emeka Okafor had a season-high 27 points and 17 rebounds, and Raymond Felton added 16 points for Charlotte.

Augustin scored 25 points and added a career-high 11 assists, backcourt mate Raymond Felton added 23 points, and the Charlotte Bobcats used their new speedy and tiny lineup to beat the Philadelphia 76ers 93-84 on Monday night. The 6-foot Augustin and the 6-1 Felton had their best game together since coach Larry Brown inserted the rookie Augustin in the starting lineup three games ago.

Chris Bosh scored 32 points and the Toronto Raptors remained alone in sixth place in the Eastern Conference with a 104-100 win over the Charlotte Bobcats on Monday night. Bosh hit 13 of 16 free throws and added eight rebounds and five assists for the Raptors, who won for the third time in four games to pull a game ahead of idle Philadelphia in the playoff race.




Mavs regroup, hold off Bobcats 102-95 (AP)

Devin Harris scored 23 points, Josh Howard added 21 points and 12 rebounds and the Dallas Mavericks withstood a late rally to beat the Charlotte Bobcats 102-95 on Wednesday. Two days after their most lopsided loss of the season, an 18-point rout at Washington, the Mavericks jumped out to a 10-1 lead, led by 14 early in the fourth quarter, then nearly blew it all in a sluggish finish.




MRIs negative for injured Bobcats (AP)
Tests on injured Bobcats forward Gerald Wallace and center Ryan Hollins were negative, but the two did not play Saturday night against the Boston Celtics. Wallace and Hollins each had MRIs a day after sustaining injuries in a loss to the Orlando magic. Wallace, Charlotte's leading scorer, was limited to 12 minutes against the Magic after complaining of a strained right calf.

Brezec questionable with swollen eye
Charlotte center Primoz Brezec is questionable for Monday's game against Portland because he needed four stitches near his left eye after colliding with an assistant coach in practice. The 7-foot-1 Brezec and Paul Mokeski bumped heads while working on a drill Sunday, the team said. His eye was nearly swollen shut during Monday's shootaround. Coach Sam Vincent said Ryan Hollins would start if Brezec can't play. Brezec, who started all nine games for Charlotte (5-4), is averaging 2.0 points, 1.
