Nuggets waive 5 players, roster at 14 (AP)
The Denver Nuggets have waived five players, trimming their roster to 14. The players waived Thursday are guards Mateen Cleaves and Smush Parker and forwards Nick Fazekas, James Mays and Ruben Patterson. Parker averaged 5.3 points and 3.3 assists in four preseason games, and Patterson averaged 7.3 points in six games.

The Clippers waived forward Ruben Patterson on Thursday, hours after he helped them beat the Nets in New Jersey for the first time in nearly 10 years. Patterson and Tim Thomas led a 16-5 run that put the Clippers ahead for good in the third quarter of Wednesday night's 91-82 victory. Patterson signed with the Clippers as a free agent Aug. 29. He made five starts in 20 games this season, averaging 5.1 points and 3.2 assists. The Clippers have been beset by injuries.

McGrady's big 4th quarter lifts Rockets (AP)

Tracy McGrady scored 19 of his 36 points in the fourth quarter and the Houston Rockets capitalized on another key injury to the Los Angeles Clippers in a 88-71 victory Monday night. Rafer Alston added 17 points for the Rockets, who have posted back-to-back wins following a six-game losing streak, and have beaten the Clippers four straight times at Staples Center.

Andris Biedrins had a season-high 23 points and a career-best 18 rebounds, Al Harrington scored 27 points and the Golden State Warriors finally got their first victory of the season, 122-105 over the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night. Baron Davis had 21 points, 12 assists and a career-high five blocked shots for the Warriors, who had been the NBA's only winless team.

Somehow, the Los Angeles Clippers keep winning. Already missing Elton Brand and Shaun Livingston because of injuries, the Clippers lost top scorer Cuttino Mobley and reserve Ruben Patterson in the first quarter Wednesday night against the Indiana Pacers. Even without all those players, the Clipper still have Sam Cassell.
