The health of Bobcats forward Gerald Wallace was the focus after the Sacramento Kings used a frantic finish to beat Charlotte. Wallace was knocked unconscious and had to be wheeled off on a stretcher. That the Kings got 22 points and 14 rebounds from Brad Miller and then overcame Miller's late turnover to edge the Bobcats 116-115 in overtime was an afterthought.




Artest mum on future after Kings keep him
A day after the NBA trade deadline passed and Ron Artest stayed put, the Sacramento forward skipped into the Kings' locker room about an hour before the tipoff of Friday's game against the Charlotte Bobcats. Judge dismisses brawl suits against Artest
Two civil lawsuits against Ron Artest stemming from the November 2004 brawl at the Palace of Auburn Hills have been dismissed. U.S. District Court Judge Anna Diggs Taylor on Monday dismissed the civil lawsuits against the former Indiana Pacer star. Artest's lawyer, Allan Rubin, said Taylor ruled on motions filed by the defense. "We're extremely happy. We believe the court made the right decision," Rubin said. "We believe the plaintiffs were overreaching in their claims.

John Salmons took over the scoring load after Sacramento leading scorer Kevin Martin went down with an injury, scoring 13 straight points for the Kings in one stretch of a 117-107 victory over the Utah Jazz on Tuesday night. The Timberwolves want Rashad McCants to shoot, and that's just what he did. McCants scored a career-high 33 points on 13-for-22 shooting in Minnesota's first victory this season, 108-103 over the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night. Ron Artest returned from his seven-game suspension with 17 points and six assists for the Kings, who have lost all five of their road games.

Seattle guard Luke Ridnour broke his nose in the SuperSonics' preseason opener and will have to wear a mask for at least the next month. Ridnour caught an elbow from Sacramento's Ron Artest midway through the first quarter Tuesday night. Ridnour was examined in Sacramento, but underwent additional tests Wednesday back in Seattle. A CT scan revealed a non-displaced fracture of the nasal bone.
