Hawks suspend C Pachulia for 1 game (AP)
The Atlanta Hawks suspended backup center Zaza Pachulia for Wednesday's game at Denver for conduct detrimental to the team. General manager Billy Knight announced the suspension Tuesday, but team did not describe the nature of his transgression. Pachulia, however, had a run-in with coach Mike Woodson during Monday's 111-109 overtime loss to Portland at Philips Arena.

Mike Woodson was appalled at how poorly the Atlanta Hawks played in the third quarter of their previous game. So, the coach of the NBA's youngest team tinkered with his halftime routine. Less time sitting, more time moving. "We got them out of the locker room a little bit earlier than we have in the past," Woodson said.




Billups' late FT gets Pistons by Hawks (AP)

Billups made one of his two shots and the Pistons beat the Hawks 92-91.

The Detroit Pistons expected Jason Maxiell to provide an undersized post presence off the bench. They didn't know that Jarvis Hayes was going to do the same thing. Maxiell and Hayes combined for 23 points, including 11 in the fourth quarter, to help the Pistons rally for a 92-91 victory over the Atlanta Hawks Sunday night.
