Michael Jordan thankful, but says others just as worthy of jersey retirement
If the NBA were to retire Michael Jordan's No. 23 league-wide, the newly inducted Hall of Famer says there are several more players just as worthy of the distinction.

Magic agrees with James on retiring 23 (AP)
Magic Johnson would go along with LeBron James' plan to have NBA players stop wearing No. 23. James said last week he would change jersey numbers next season in honor of Michael Jordan, and said no other players should wear it, either. Critics of his plan said other players before Jordan deserved the honor at least as much, with some using Johnson and Larry Bird as examples.

League-wide retirement of Jordan's No. 23 unlikely
LeBron James may persuade NBA players to give up their No. 23s, but a league-wide retirement of Michael Jordan's number seems unlikely. James said Thursday he is considering switching his number next season and wants other players to do the same in honor of Jordan, the Hall of Famer who is often regarded at the league's best player ever. NBA spokesman Tim Frank said on Saturday that "retiring a player's number is a decision that has been made by the teams" and not the league.

He made the comments following the Cavs' win in Miami on Thursday. A Crawford County judge barred 35-year-old Lisa Miceli of Meadville from contacting Jordan, his family or his representatives. But the judge who jailed Miceli last week, says a letter she wrote promising to comply wasn't good enough.

Pressure on MJ, Brown to make picks count
The Charlotte Bobcats' final predraft workout had just ended Wednesday when part-owner Michael Jordan grabbed a ball and quickly challenged the equipment manager to a shooting game. To make it fair, Jordan shot left-handed. Then Jordan's 15-footers kept clanging off the rim. "His left hand is not as good as his right," coach Larry Brown said. "But if he was eligible we'd be OK." Instead, Jordan and Brown will be paired in the draft war room for the first time Thursday night.

Jordan hires Brown to coach Bobcats
Larry Brown wanted a chance to resurrect his vagabond, Hall of Fame coaching career. Michael Jordan needed a veteran teacher and a big hire to rescue his sinking reputation as an NBA executive. The two former North Carolina players teamed up Tuesday when Jordan introduced Brown as coach of the Charlotte Bobcats - his ninth NBA job. The 67-year-old Brown replaces Sam Vincent, whom Jordan hired last year despite no NBA head coaching experience.

Vincent had never been an NBA head coach and had spent just one year in the league as an assistant.

"This is not a paternity suit nor a (child) support action," Miller said in an eight-page opinion.
