BOSTON (AP) Kevin Garnett had 28 points and 14 rebounds, hitting a jumper to give Boston the lead with 31 seconds left, and the Celtics beat the Atlanta Hawks 83-80 in Game 6 on Thursday night to win their first-round playoff series and advance to the Eastern Conference semifinals for the fifth straight year.

Joe Johnson scored 37 points, Josh Smith added 22 and the Atlanta Hawks ended Utah's six-game winning streak with a 139-133 victory Sunday night in the NBA's first quadruple-overtime game since 1997. The four overtimes tied for the third-longest game in NBA history. It was the ninth NBA game to go four OTs and the first since Phoenix beat Portland 140-139 on Nov.

Atlanta Hawks forward Marvin Williams has undergone minor surgery on his lower back to alleviate the pain from a bulging disc. The outpatient procedure was performed Wednesday at Peachtree Orthopedic Clinics in Atlanta. The team says Williams walked out of the facility on his own and should be able to resume full basketball activities in six to eight weeks.

Hawks' Williams says he is '100 percent'
Marvin Williams says he is fully recovered from injuries which limited him in the playoffs, and the Atlanta Hawks' newly re-signed forward says he's already looking forward to training camp. Williams says he is "100 percent" recovered from back and wrist injuries. He says he's ready for training camp, which opens on Sept. 29. Williams, who was a restricted free agent, signed a five-year, $37.5 million deal with the Hawks last week. He held a teleconference on Tuesday to discuss the deal.

The Atlanta Hawks have re-signed restricted free agent forward Marvin Williams, taking care of their last bit of unfinished business from the offseason. Terms of the deal were not immediately available. Williams averaged 13.9 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists during his fourth season with the Hawks. He was the second overall pick of the 2005 draft after spending one season at North Carolina.

Acie Law IV made a fast-break layup with 25 seconds left to lift the Atlanta Hawks to a 94-93 victory over the Orlando Magic on Monday night in both teams' preseason debut. Carlos Arroyo missed one of two free throws that would have tied the game with 15 seconds left. Marvin Williams, who had 19 points, made two free throws to seal the win.
