Gordon Hayward made a go-ahead free throw with 11 seconds remaining, lifting the Utah Jazz past the Golden State Warriors 88-87 on Saturday night for their fourth straight victory. Hayward finished with 18 points, six rebounds and four assists, and Al Jefferson added 15 points and eight rebounds for the Jazz, who shot just 39.5 percent.

First-time coach Mark Jackson fully expects the Golden State Warriors to be in the playoffs next season. Speaking before Game 4 of the NBA finals Tuesday night, Jackson said to "put it in bold letters" that the Warriors are going to be a playoff team next season. He says he wouldn't have taken the job if that wasn't his anticipation.

Jason Kidd moved into second place on the NBA's career assists list, Jason Terry scored 27 points and the Dallas Mavericks shot 65.5 percent in a 130-99 victory over the Houston Rockets on Wednesday night. Kidd delivered seven assists to reach 10,337 in his career. He came in needing five to pass Mark Jackson's career total (10,334), and now trails only John Stockton (15,806).

The three finalists for the Minnesota Timberwolves coaching vacancy have three distinctly different resumes. Timberwolves president David Kahn is in the process of deciding between Lakers assistant Kurt Rambis, ESPN analyst Mark Jackson and Houston assistant Elston Turner. Rambis is the most experienced of the bunch.

The Phoenix Suns will interview Houston Rockets assistant Elston Turner as a replacement for former head coach Mike D'Antoni. The interview will be next week, the team said Friday. The 48-year-old Turner has been an assistant to coach Rick Adelman for 11 years with Portland, Sacramento and Houston. Turner joins Terry Porter and Mark Jackson as candidates. Porter, a Detroit Pistons' assistant and former head coach at Milwaukee, was interviewed by Suns general manager Steve Kerr on Tuesday.

Walsh declined to reveal his other candidates to replace Isiah Thomas as New York Knicks coach and won't rush his search - even though waiting cost him a shot at Scott Skiles. The Chicago Bulls are the only other team with a coaching vacancy, though more could open during the postseason.
