The Minnesota Timberwolves will waive veteran center Mark Blount later Monday, according to NBA front-office sources.

The second-highest paid player on the Minnesota Timberwolves will not be welcome at training camp. Instead, center Mark Blount will stay home after the Wolves gave his agent permission to seek a trade.

Heat acquire Richardson from T-Wolves for Blount
Quentin Richardson was traded for the fourth time since the end of last season, moving from the Minnesota Timberwolves to the Miami Heat on Thursday night in exchange for center Mark Blount. Richardson, who can play both shooting guard and small forward, is a close friend and workout partner of Heat star Dwyane Wade, the reigning NBA scoring champion. Richardson averaged 10.2 points last season for New York Knicks.

If this was Pat Riley's final game, it was a victorious one. Jason Williams scored 17 points, Mark Blount and Daequan Cook each added 16 and the Heat ended their disappointing season with a 113-99 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night. Miami finished 15-67, matching the 1988-89 expansion team for the worst record in franchise history.

Stan Van Gundy knows the perception exists that the Miami Heat are "tanking" the rest of the season, solely to ensure they have the best chance of winning the NBA lottery. Two years ago, the Miami Heat were dubbed "15 Strong" on their way to the NBA championship. These days, it's more like "15 Wrong" -- and counting. Tim Duncan scored 30 points and added 11 rebounds, Manu Ginobili's driving layup with 36.5 seconds left was the go-ahead score, and the San Antonio Spurs rallied from a 10-point second-half deficit to beat the Heat 90-89 Thursday night.

Dwyane Wade survived a horrendous shooting night to score 30 points, Udonis Haslem added 18 and the Miami Heat finally found a way to win at home, beating the Minnesota Timberwolves 91-87 Monday night. Shaquille O'Neal scored 15 points and added eight rebounds before fouling out for Miami (7-17), which won for only the third time in 11 home games -- and was pushed to the brink by a Minnesota team...

The Denver Nuggets made quick work of the slumping Miami Heat. Carmelo Anthony scored 30 points, and Kenyon Martin added a season-high 20 to help the Nuggets rout the Heat 115-89 on Sunday night. Marcus Camby had 21 rebounds, his fifth 20-rebound game of the season. Dwyane Wade had 13 points for Miami, and Ricky Davis and Daequan Cook had 11 each.
