If the preseason really counted for something, the Orlando Magic would be NBA champions and Vince Carter would be Mr. October. The reality is this is tuneup time, even if the Magic don't seem to need it. Carter scored all of his 21 points in the first half and the Magic rolled past another opponent for their 19th straight preseason win, 105-67 over the Chicago Bulls on Saturday night.

A person with knowledge of the deal says free agent Keith Bogans has agreed to a deal with the Chicago Bulls. The person tells The Associated Press the deal is guaranteed for one year with a team option for a second. The person was granted anonymity because the deal had not yet been announced. The swingman spent last season in San Antonio, where he averaged 4.4 points in 79 games.

Manu Ginobili had 16 points and Keith Bogans scored 15 for the Spurs, who extended their longest winning streak in nearly two months and swept the season series from the Hornets for the second time in four seasons.

Richard Jefferson scored 20 points in his best game since losing his starting job, and the San Antonio Spurs beat Phoenix 113-110 on Sunday to end the Suns' five-game winning streak. Amare Stoudemire had a season-high 41 points and 12 rebounds for Phoenix, but Jefferson and the Spurs hung on late to hand the Suns only their second loss since the All-Star break.

Tony Parker scored 17 points and the San Antonio Spurs stopped a three-game losing streak with a 106-84 victory over the Washington Wizards on Saturday night. Parker played for only the second time in six games, bothered by a bad ankle during what has been one of the worst starts for San Antonio in the Tim Duncan era.

Richard Jefferson scored 29 points and the San Antonio Spurs survived another game without Tony Parker and Tim Duncan, beating the Dallas Mavericks 92-83 on Wednesday night. Manu Ginobili had 13 points in the first meeting between the Texas rivals since the Mavs cruised past the ailing Spurs in the first round of the playoffs last season, handing San Antonio its earliest playoff exit since 2000.




Agent: Bogans to sign 1-year deal with Spurs
Guard Keith Bogans is the latest newcomer to the San Antonio Spurs. Bogans' agent, Michael Harrison, says he is set to sign a guaranteed one-year deal with the Spurs before training camp starts next week. San Antonio will be Bogan's fifth team in seven seasons. The 29-year-old Bogans averaged 5.6 points playing for Orlando and Milwaukee last season. His biggest asset to the Spurs will be on defense after the Spurs traded away Bruce Bowen this summer. Bowen has since retired.

Hedo Turkoglu made plenty of bad decisions on Monday, but it still didn't scare Stan Van Gundy enough to take the ball from his hands at the end of the game. Turkoglu hit a fadeaway jumper with seven-tenths of a second left in overtime, and the Orlando Magic beat the Chicago Bulls 112-110. After Chicago's Ben Gordon hit a tying 3 with 6.7 seconds left, Turkoglu made a shot over Ben Wallace.

Hedo Turkoglu scored a season-high 28 points, Dwight Howard added 15 points and 21 rebounds, and the Orlando Magic beat the Charlotte Bobcats 104-95 for their third straight victory. Carlos Arroyo replaced the injured Jameer Nelson at point guard for Orlando and had 16 points and six assists. The Orlando Magic finally got to test the new inside-out combination of Dwight Howard and Rashard Lewis. After a rough first quarter, coach Stan Van Gundy liked what he saw.
