Nets F Hayes out against Trail Blazers (AP)
New Jersey Nets starting forward Jarvis Hayes has been scratched from the game against the Portland Trail Blazers with a strained left calf. Hayes was hurt in the third quarter of Monday night's loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. Veteran Trenton Hassell replaced Hayes in the starting lineup on Tuesday night.

Celtics rout Nets, win fourth straight (AP)

Ray Allen and the Boston Celtics wasted no time turning a rematch with the Nets into another rout. Allen scored 25 points to lead the Celtics to a 105-85 win on Saturday afternoon. The Celtics put the game away in the opening quarter, taking an 18-2 lead behind nine points from Allen. Boston had beaten New Jersey by 32 points at home on Wednesday.




Nets hand Kings 11th straight road loss (AP)

Vince Carter scored 29 points, Yi Jianlian added 22 points and a season-high 13 rebounds and the New Jersey Nets handed the Sacramento Kings their 11th straight road loss, 98-90 on Monday night. Jarvis Hayes had a go-ahead 3-pointer with 4:53 to play as the Nets won consecutive games at home for the first time this season.

Vince Carter scored 18 points, and Yi Jianlian and Devin Harris each had 16 to help the New Jersey Nets rout the Minnesota Timberwolves 113-84 on Friday night. Jarvis Hayes added 14 points, Keyon Dooling had 12, and Bobby Simmons and Brook Lopez had 11 each to help New Jersey rebound from a 108-88 home loss to Washington on Tuesday night.

Rodney Stuckey scored 19 points, Tayshaun Prince added 14 on 6-for-7 shooting and the Detroit Pistons wrapped up the No. 2 seed for the Eastern Conference playoffs by beating the Miami Heat 91-75 on Sunday. Rookie Arron Afflalo had career highs of 15 points and seven rebounds as the Detroit Pistons clinched the Central Division title with a 85-69 victory over the Miami Heat on Thursday night. Detroit came in having lost three of four, and struggled against the hapless Heat. The Pistons were missing All-Star guard Richard Hamilton (hip) for the third straight game.

Jarvis Hayes scored 29 points, including a career-high seven 3-pointers, and the Detroit Pistons routed the New Orleans Hornets 105-84 Sunday. The Pistons have won four of five, while the Hornets lost for just the second time in seven games. New Orleans was missing David West, who sprained his right ankle Friday against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Jarvis Hayes can't imagine that food poisoning helped his game Friday night. He doesn't have a better explanation, though. Hayes, who has been sick since Detroit's flight back from New Jersey on Wednesday, scored 13 points in the second quarter to help the Pistons post their seventh straight victory, 114-101 over the Indiana Pacers.




Billups' late FT gets Pistons by Hawks (AP)

The Detroit Pistons expected Jason Maxiell to provide an undersized post presence off the bench. They didn't know that Jarvis Hayes was going to do the same thing. Maxiell and Hayes combined for 23 points, including 11 in the fourth quarter, to help the Pistons rally for a 92-91 victory over the Atlanta Hawks Sunday night.




Pistons rally to beat Hawks
Chauncey Billups hit a free throw with 1.7 seconds left to give the Detroit Pistons a 92-91 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday night. The Pistons trailed in their home opener by nine points entering the fourth, but dominated the first 11 minutes of the final period before a late Hawks rally. Two 3-pointers by Joe Johnson pulled Atlanta to 89-88 with 40 seconds to go, but Jarvis Hayes grabbed a key offensive rebound and Billups made it a 3-point game from the line.

Stuckey breaks hand in Pistons win
Detroit rookie Rodney Stuckey broke his left hand in the third quarter of the Pistons' 104-85 victory over the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night. The first-round pick from Eastern Washington had 10 points in 13 minutes before he was injured late in the third quarter. Jarvis Hayes scored 21 points against his former team to lead Detroit. Rasheed Wallace added 17 while Tayshaun Prince and Chauncey Billups each had 12.

Nuggets stars sit out loss to Pistons
Jarvis Hayes scored 24 points and Tayshaun Prince added 19 points to help the Detroit Pistons beat the Denver Nuggets 109-106 in a preseason game Sunday. The Nuggets were missing most of their top players, including Carmelo Anthony, Allen Iverson, Kenyon Martin and Nene. Detroit had its full lineup, but guard Richard Hamilton left the game midway through the third quarter after spraining his left ankle while going for a rebound.

Tayshaun Prince scored 13 points and Chauncey Billups added 12 to help the Detroit Pistons beat the undermanned Miami Heat 103-86 in the exhibition opener Monday night. The Heat were missing Shaquille O'Neal, Dwyane Wade and Alonzo Mourning, who all stayed in Florida to deal with injuries. Udonis Haslem and Antoine Walker spent the night on the bench.
