Hawks guard Jannero Pargo is expected to miss two to four weeks following an appendectomy in Cleveland on Sunday night. Pargo missed the Hawks' 103-87 win over the Cavaliers on Sunday with what was believed to be a stomach virus. He had the surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. Hawks coach Larry Drew says Pargo, a backup who averages 5.2 points per game, may fly back to Atlanta on Tuesday.

Josh Smith had 27 points and nine rebounds, leading the Atlanta Hawks to their third straight victory, 101-96 over the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday night. Smith scored 13 points in the first quarter, 11 in the third, and fell three points shy of his season high. Jannero Pargo had 16 points, while Marvin Williams and Zaza Pachulia each scored 12 for the Hawks.

Vladimir Radmanovic made the go-ahead 3-pointer with 11.9 seconds remaining and the Atlanta Hawks rallied in the final period to beat the Milwaukee Bucks 99-94 on Friday night. Jannero Pargo scored 11 points, all in the fourth quarter. The Hawks, playing without leading scoring Joe Johnson, leaned on their reserves, including veterans Tracy McGrady and Jerry Stackhouse, in the final period.

Memphis had not won a game in Atlanta in more than six years. The Grizzlies took care of that skid in a big way. Rudy Gay scored 21 points, four other teammates were in double figures and Memphis blew out the listless Hawks 96-77 Thursday night. "It was outstanding defense from the start," said coach Lionel Hollins, whose team came up with 13 steals.

Jeff Teague is expected to open the season as the Hawks' starting point guard. Pargo, who most recently played for the Chicago Bulls in the 2009-10 season, gives Atlanta another contender for a backup spot.

Free agent guard Jannero Pargo has signed a one-year deal with the Chicago Bulls. Terms were not disclosed Monday. The 6-foot-1 guard, known for his outside shooting, was also with Chicago from 2003-06. Pargo played in Russia and Greece last season. He is a six-year NBA veteran, having also spent time with the Lakers, Raptors and Hornets.

The one-year deal is worth nearly $4 million and is about twice what Pargo made for the Hornets last season, Bartelstein said. Pargo joins a growing defection of NBA players lured overseas by higher salaries.

Chris Paul had 16 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds, and the New Orleans Hornets tied a franchise record for single-season victories with 54 in a 108-96 defeat of the Golden State Warriors on Sunday. It was the fourth career triple double for Paul, who inspired boisterous chants of M-V-P from a sellout crowd that watched the Hornets win their 11th straight home game and fourth straight overall.

Along with countless assists, Chris Paul has given teammate David West a rather unique nickname. "I call David West the 17-foot assassin," Paul said. The Cavaliers now know why. Jannero Pargo scored a season-high 24 points in 24 minutes, and the New Orleans Hornets extended their season-best winning streak to six games with a 96-81 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night.
