Rockets sign F Johnson from D-League (AP)
The Houston Rockets signed forward Alexander Johnson from the developmental league and waived forward Hilton Armstrong on Friday. The 6-foot-9 Johnson averaged 23 points and 11 rebounds in 22 games with Sioux Falls during the D-League regular season. He was 12th in the D-League in scoring average and was tied for seventh in the league in rebounding.

New Rockets pass physicals, join team (AP)
The practice almost felt like the start of a new season -- and era -- for the Houston Rockets. New acquisitions Kevin Martin, Jared Jeffries, Jordan Hill and Hilton Armstrong passed their physicals and watched their new team work out Friday, a day after Houston acquired the quartet in a three-team swap that sent Tracy McGrady to New York.

Reports: Rockets trade McGrady to Kings (AP)
Published reports say the Houston Rockets have traded Tracy McGrady and his massive expiring contract to the Sacramento Kings for guards Kevin Martin and Sergio Rodriguez, center Hilton Armstrong and forward Kenny Thomas. The Kings also reportedly will get forward Carl Landry, Houston's most productive bench player this season, and seldom-used forward Joey Dorsey.

The Sacramento Kings acquired forward Hilton Armstrong from the New Orleans Hornets for a conditional 2016 second-round pick and cash considerations. Kings president of basketball operations Geoff Petrie announced the deal Monday, saying Armstrong would contribute immediately at power forward and center.

Cavs move to 20-0 at home, beat Hornets (AP)

Sick, tired and short-handed. And still, the Cleveland Cavaliers are unbeatable at home. LeBron James, sniffling and wheezing through a head cold, shook off one of his worst games this season to flirt with a triple-double, and the Cavaliers extended their home winning streak to 20 by beating the New Orleans Hornets 92-78 on Friday night.




Artest out for Rockets vs. Hornets (AP)
Ron Artest missed the Houston Rockets' road game Friday night against the Hornets, who were also short-handed. Artest had a sprained right ankle, Rockets officials said. New Orleans was without swingman Peja Stojakovic and reserve center Hilton Armstrong. Stojakovic remained sideline by back soreness for a fifth-straight game.

Hornets C Chandler out with stiff neck (AP)
New Orleans Hornets center Tyson Chandler missed Sunday's game against the Toronto Raptors because of a stiff neck. Hilton Armstrong made his second consecutive start in place of Chandler, who also sat out Friday's loss at Boston. Chandler, the second overall pick in the 2001 draft, is averaging 8.5 points and 8 rebounds in 15 games this season.

David West scored 29 points, James Posey added 20, including six 3-pointers, and the New Orleans Hornets beat the Toronto Raptors 99-91 Sunday for their eighth win in 10 games. Rasual Butler had 16 points, and Chris Paul added 12 points and 12 assists for the Hornets, who went 12-for-33 from beyond 3-point range.

Mehmet Okur had 22 points and 17 rebounds to help the Utah Jazz clinch the Northwest Division and snap the New Orleans Hornets' 11-game home winning streak, 77-66 on Tuesday night. Deron Williams had 16 assists and outplayed Chris Paul as the Jazz took a 20-point lead early in the fourth quarter and cruised from there, holding New Orleans to its lowest point total of the season.

Peja Stojakovic hit a 3-pointer and three free throws in the final minute to lift the New Orleans Hornets over the Orlando Magic, 98-97, on Tuesday night. Chris Paul had 19 points and 12 assists for the Hornets, Morris Peterson scored 19 points and David West had 18 points and 11 rebounds. Hedo Turkoglu had 26 points, seven assists and five rebounds for Orlando.

Antoine Walker joked that Minnesota Timberwolves teammate Marko Jaric was "overachieving." It was only fitting that the New Orleans Hornets' return to their temporary home will be remembered as a comeback. Chris Paul scored 14 points and Hilton Armstrong had 10 of his 12 in the second half as the Hornets rallied from a 21-point first-quarter deficit to beat the Houston Rockets 94-92 Tuesday night in the preseason opener for both teams.
