The Utah Jazz have signed free-agent center Francisco Elson. The Jazz are adding the 7-foot, 240-pound veteran as starter Mehmet Okur recovers from a ruptured Achilles' tendon. Okur was injured in Utah's playoff opener at Denver and may not be available for training camp and the preseason. General manager Kevin O'Connor announced the deal Wednesday in a statement.

The San Antonio Spurs re-signed Kurt Thomas on Tuesday, keeping the veteran forward after trading for him in February. The team did not disclose terms of the deal. The San Antonio Spurs re-signed guard Brent Barry on Monday, a month after trading him to Seattle. The SuperSonics waived Barry on Feb. 21, a day after acquiring him, Francisco Elson and a 2009 first-round draft pick from the Spurs for Kurt Thomas. Barry had to sit out 30 days before he could re-sign with San Antonio. Before the trade, Barry averaged 7.3 points in 29 games for the Spurs. He has averaged 7.3 points in 259 games since signing with the Spurs in 2004.
