Nets waive veteran F Van Horn, 3 others (AP)
Forward Keith Van Horn, who had not appeared in an NBA game since the 2005-06 season, was among four players the New Jersey Nets waived in reducing their roster to the 15-man limit. Guards Eddie Gill and Julius Hodge and forward Brian Hamilton were also released on Thursday. Van Horn was acquired in the eight-player trade that sent Jason Kidd to the Dallas Mavericks in February.

Bulls waive F Khryapa, settle on deal (AP)
The Chicago Bulls waived forward Viktor Khryapa on Thursday and reached a settlement on the remainder of his contract. The 6-foot-9 Khryapa averaged 3.6 points and 2.2 rebounds in nine games this season. He played 33 games with Chicago last season. He was picked by the New Jersey Nets in the first round of the 2004 draft and his rights were traded to Portland for Eddie Gill.

Vince Carter came off the bench to score 24 points Saturday night, and the New Jersey Nets ended a five-game home losing streak with a 94-92 overtime victory over the Philadelphia 76ers. Jason Kidd equaled his season high with 19 points for New Jersey. Richard Jefferson had 23 and Antoine Wright 15. Andre Iguodala paced the 76ers with 24.

Here's one sign the Memphis Grizzlies are improving under new coach Marc Iavaroni. It only took them 14 games to win consecutive games. Not bad, compared to a year ago when it took them almost a full season -- 73 games -- to string wins together. "It's good for us," Mike Miller said after scoring 19 points in the Grizzlies 110-103 win over the New Jersey Nets on Tuesday night.




Nets sign NBDL's Gill to sub for injured Armstrong
The New Jersey Nets signed guard Eddie Gill on Friday to fill in for backup point guard Darrell Armstrong, who is sidelined by a thigh injury.

Gill has played for 4 NBA franchises
Eddie Gill, who has played for four NBA teams, was chosen by the Colorado 14ers on Thursday night with the first pick in the NBA Development League draft. Gill was among a number of the 13 players taken in the first round who spent time with NBA clubs during the preseason. The guard was with the New Jersey Nets, and also has played for Memphis, Portland and Indiana. Carlos Powell, who was in Golden State camp, went second to the Dakota Wizards.
