Dirk Nowitzki has an idea of what it's like to be an NBA champion. He learned one of the lessons over the years he spent being teammates with Devean George. Nowitzki noticed that before practically every game, George found someone warming up on the other side of the court and greeted them with a smile and a hug that seemed warmer than most pregame how-do-you-do's.

Raptors add G Belinelli, C Nesterovic (AP)
The Toronto Raptors have added guard Marco Belinelli and center Rasho Nesterovic to the roster. The team announced Thursday that it had acquired Belinelli from Golden State in exchange for forward Devean George and cash considerations. Free-agent Nesterovic signed a one-year, $2 million deal. Belinelli was the 18th overall pick in 2007 and appeared in 42 games for the Warriors last season.

Warriors acquire George from Toronto
The Golden State Warriors have acquired guard-forward Devean George and cash from the Toronto Raptors for guard Marco Belinelli. The trade was announced on Thursday. The Warriors, who drafted Davidson star Stephen Curry last month and have Monta Ellis slated as their point guard, like George's versatility to play more than one spot in coach Don Nelson's up-tempo offense. The 31-year-old George, a 10-year NBA veteran who has played the last three seasons with the Mavericks, averaged 3.

Nowitzki's 39 help Mavs end 4-game skid (AP)

Dirk Nowitzki took out all sorts of frustrations on the Utah Jazz, hitting 16 of 20 shots and scoring 39 points to lead the Dallas Mavericks to a 115-108 victory Saturday night. Nowitzki's fire was stoked by Dallas having lost four straight and by his own problems against the Jazz -- as in getting suspended after two of his last three games against them, including last month.

Jose Barea scored 16 of his season-high 22 points in the decisive third quarter, and Dirk Nowitzki had 24 points to lift the Dallas Mavericks to their ninth victory in 10 games, 100-98 over the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday night. Barea was 7-of-9 from the floor in the third, and Dallas outscored Atlanta 33-16 in the quarter to take a 15-point lead.

The Dallas Mavericks re-signed forward Devean George on Monday, nearly six months after the veteran player blocked a trade to the New Jersey Nets. George played his first seven seasons for the Los Angeles Lakers before signing with the Mavericks in 2006. Terms of the deal were not immediately available.
