Blazers promote Greer, add Dickau (AP)The Portland Trail Blazers have promoted advance scout Larry Greer to assistant coach, and added former guard Dan Dickau as a player development assistant. Blazers head coach Nate McMillan also announced that he has retained assistants Bernie Bickerstaff, Bob Ociepka, Buck Williams, Kaleb Canales and Dean Cooper.

Clippers renounce rights to Livingston
The Los Angeles Clippers said Wednesday that they had renounced their rights to Shaun Livingston, the recuperating guard who is an unrestricted free agent, and four other players. The other players are Dan Dickau, Boniface Ndong, Smush Parker and James Singleton. Livingston, taken by Los Angeles as the fourth overall pick in the 2004 NBA draft, hasn't played since injuring his left knee in a game on Feb. 26, 2007. The Clippers declined to give him a $5.8 million qualifying offer this summer.

Aldridge, Roy help Blazers beat Clippers (AP)
LaMarcus Aldridge had 22 points, 12 rebounds and a career-high seven assists, Brandon Roy added 21 points and six assists, and the Portland Trail Blazers beat the Los Angeles Clippers 107-102 on Friday night. Martell Webster had 16 points and Steve Blake had 15 points and 11 assists for Portland, which has slim playoff hopes.

The New York Knicks waived Dan Dickau on Tuesday after completing a buyout of the veteran point guard's contract. The Knicks acquired Dickau in the draft-night trade that also sent Zach Randolph and Fred Jones from Portland to New York. But with the Knicks already having a number of guard options, agent Mark Bartelstein said the team wasn't a great situation for his client.
