Chris Paul scored nine of his 19 points in overtime and added a season-high 15 assists, carrying the Los Angeles Clippers to an 87-83 victory over the Detroit Pistons on Sunday. Blake Griffin had 17 points and 11 rebounds, and he tipped in Paul's missed layup with 19 seconds left in regulation before Paul swiped the ball from Tayshaun Prince to send it to overtime.

Rodney Stuckey scored 25 points and Ben Gordon hit three 3-pointers in the opening 4:09 of the fourth quarter during a game-breaking spree that carried the Detroit Pistons to a 98-88 win over the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night. Greg Monroe had 22 points and nine rebounds, and Gordon finished with 22 points for the Pistons, who won for the fifth time in seven games.

Newcomers Raymond Felton and Wilson Chandler combined to score 31 points Monday night, helping Denver rally for a 100-90 win over the Atlanta Hawks for the Nuggets' third win in four games since the deal that sent Carmelo Anthony to New York. Felton had 16 points and Chandler added 15 as the Nuggets used a 8-0 surge early in the fourth quarter to pull away from the road-weary Hawks.

Josh Smith scored 26 points, Al Horford had 22 points and 12 rebounds and the Atlanta Hawks beat the Golden State Warriors 95-79 on Friday night. Joe Johnson added 12 points, five rebounds and five assists for the Hawks (35-23), who snapped a three-game losing streak and won for the first time since the All-Star break.

Portland coach Nate McMillan's experiment with a three-guard starting lineup has sparked the Trail Blazers. Portland won its second consecutive game since McMillan employed a starting lineup that includes guards Brandon Roy, Andre Miller and Steve Blake. It was Miller leading the way Sunday, as he scored 21 points to lead Portland to a 116-93 win over Minnesota.

Thunder, Timberwolves swap veterans
The Minnesota Timberwolves have picked up another point guard in a swap of veteran backups that will send Etan Thomas to Oklahoma City. Along with Thomas, Minnesota is sending two of its four second-round picks in the 2010 draft to Oklahoma City in exchange for guards Damien Wilkins and Chucky Atkins. Thomas will head to his home state after spending less than a month with the Timberwolves. He came in the trade that eventually landed unsigned No. 5 overall draft pick Ricky Rubio in Minnesota.

Kevin Martin scored Sacramento's final five points, including a frantic race the length of the court for a 20-footer as the clock expired, and the Kings extended the Seattle SuperSonics' franchise-record losing streak to 14 with a 103-101 victory Sunday night. Rookie Kevin Durant made a buzzer-beating 3-pointer at the end of the second overtime, and Damien Wilkins scored a career-high 41 points in the Seattle SuperSonics' 126-123 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night. With rookie Al Horford guarding him at the top of the key, Durant pumped once to get the defender in the air before shooting over his outstretched arm.

Miami's season-long wait for Dwyane Wade ended. So, too, did Seattle's quest for its first win of the Kevin Durant era. Chris Wilcox scored 20 points, Damien Wilkins added 19 and the SuperSonics spoiled Wade's return to the Heat lineup by beating Miami 104-95 Wednesday night -- Seattle's first win in nine games this season.

Rashard Lewis scored 22 points against his former team Tuesday night, and the Orlando Magic beat Seattle 103-76, handing the SuperSonics their league-worst eighth straight loss. The SuperSonics have not won since April 7 of last season, when Lewis was still on their side and went for 35 points against the Utah Jazz.

Francisco Garcia's timely 3-pointer saved the Sacramento Kings from what would have been quite the double whammy in their home opener. Garcia hit a go-ahead baseline 3 with 29 seconds to play, lifting Sacramento to a 104-98 victory over the Seattle SuperSonics and a win for new coach Reggie Theus in his Arco Arena debut.

Durant making good impression on Sonics (AP)

Kevin Durant grabbed outlet passes. He stepped out and fed post players who were running down the middle of the floor. When he did go inside, he soared to the baseline for a rebound over Wally Szczerbiak, the veteran small forward who at 6-foot-7 is two inches shorter but far more bulky than the teenager with the body of a greyhound.
