Horford has career-high 31, Hawks roll (AP)

Al Horford and the Atlanta Hawks didn't allow themselves to fall into that trap of underestimating a losing team in disarray after making two trades in less than 24 hours. Horford scored a career-high 31 points in his 200th NBA game, and the Hawks sent the wheeling-and-dealing Los Angeles Clippers reeling to their sixth straight loss with a 110-92 victory Wednesday night.

Clippers hire John Lucas as assistant
Former NBA coach and player John Lucas is joining the Los Angeles Clippers as an assistant. The team said Friday that Lucas will join Tony Brown, Kim Hughes and Fred Vinson on coach and general manager Mike Dunleavy's staff. Lucas was head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2001-03, where he coached current Clippers Ricky Davis and Brian Skinner. Before that, Lucas was an assistant with the Denver Nuggets for three seasons.

Rodney Stuckey scored 24 points, Tayshaun Prince added 20, and the Detroit Pistons got a critical goaltending call in the final seconds to beat the Los Angeles Clippers 88-87 on Sunday for their seventh straight victory in a matchup of injury-depleted teams. Allen Iverson had 18 points and 10 assists for the Pistons, who have beaten the Clippers 12 straight times.

Free-agent forward Brian Skinner, a first-round pick of the Los Angeles Clippers 10 years ago, signed with the team on Thursday. The Clippers reached a deal with the 6-foot-9, 255-pounder, who averaged 3.3 points and 3.6 rebounds in 66 games for the Phoenix Suns last season. Terms were not announced. "Brian Skinner is a veteran NBA player who will give us both size and depth in the middle," Clippers general manager Elgin Baylor said in a statement.
