The Sacramento Kings have hired former Golden State Warriors head coach Keith Smart and ex-player Bobby Jackson as assistants under Paul Westphal.

The Sacramento Kings have hired former Golden State Warriors head coach Keith Smart and ex-player Bobby Jackson as assistants under Paul Westphal. Smart was dismissed after going 36-46 in his lone season running the Warriors despite making a 10-game improvement from the previous season. He took over last minute in September 2010 for the NBA's career wins leader, Don Nelson.

Bobby Jackson is retiring from the NBA. The 12-year veteran guard, who spent six seasons with Sacramento, made the announcement Friday night before the Kings' preseason finale against the Utah Jazz.

Bobby Jackson is retiring from the NBA. The 12-year veteran guard, who spent six seasons with Sacramento, made the announcement Friday night before the Kings' preseason finale against the Utah Jazz. Jackson averaged 9.7 points per game in his career. He was the league's Sixth Man of the Year in 2002-03 with averages of 15.2 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists.

Michael Redd's scoring binge through three quarters helped the Milwaukee Bucks assume a big lead Friday night, but it was teammate Charlie Villanueva carrying the load in the fourth quarter when the advantage nearly evaporated. Redd scored a season-high 44 points and Villanueva had 15 of his 24 points in the final period for the Bucks, who held off the Kings for a 129-122 victory.

Chris Paul had 34 points, nine assists and a season-high eight steals, and the New Orleans Hornets won for the 11th time in 13 games, 99-90 over the Sacramento Kings on Saturday night. Kings G Udrih out vs. Hornets (AP)
Sacramento's Beno Udrih missed the Kings' game against New Orleans on Saturday night because of a sore left hamstring. Udrih was replaced in the starting lineup by veteran guard Bobby Jackson. Udrih played Friday night in the Kings' loss in Houston, but left the game in the fourth quarter. He was listed as questionable on Saturday until shortly before tipoff.

For three quarters, Bobby Jackson did nothing to make the New Orleans Hornets pay for trading him last February. Then he showed them exactly what they were missing in the fourth. John Salmons scored 29 points, and Jackson had all eight of his points in the final 5:10 to help the injury-depleted Sacramento Kings surprise the New Orleans Hornets 105-96 on Wednesday night.




Rockets formally announce Artest trade
Ron Artest officially joined the Houston Rockets on Thursday. The Rockets announced the five-player trade with Sacramento that also brought forward Patrick Ewing Jr. and guard Sean Singletary in exchange for guard Bobby Jackson, rookie forward Donte Greene and Houston's first-round pick next year. The Houston Rockets keep playing short-handed and finding ways to win. Tracy McGrady had 22 points, six rebounds and seven assists, and Luis Scola added 19 points as the Rockets cruised to a 101-90 win over the Phoenix Suns on Friday night. McGrady sat out Wednesday's game against Seattle with a sore left shoulder and the Rockets won 103-80.

Tracy McGrady scored 26 points, Bobby Jackson hit an improbable 3-pointer and the Houston Rockets got back to their winning ways with a 109-106 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Friday night. Houston had lost two straight following a 22-game winning streak that was the second longest in NBA history.

Bobby Jackson was lauded for his ability to be a spark off the bench when he was traded to Houston last week. In his first game with the Rockets, the point guard delivered. Jackson scored 11 of his 14 points in the second half and helped Houston to its 12th straight win, a 110-97 victory over the Chicago Bulls on Sunday night.

Kobe Bryant scored 19 points, Andrew Bynum added 17 and the Los Angeles Lakers won their fourth straight game, 109-80 over the New Orleans Hornets on Wednesday night. With balanced scoring and stifling defense, the Lakers turned what was supposed to be a marquee matchup between two of the NBA's hottest teams into a lopsided affair that left the home crowd groaning.

David West and Chris Paul each scored 16 points, and Bobby Jackson had 12 to lead the New Orleans Hornets to a 93-72 win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday night. The Hornets snapped a two-game losing streak and played more like the team that won the first four games of the season. They used runs of 11-2 at end of the first half and 12-0 in the third quarter to dominate and blow out the Sixers.

Peja Stojakovic made a franchise-record 10 3-pointers, and Chris Paul established another Hornets team mark with 21 assists Tuesday night in New Orleans' 118-104 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. Stojakovic missed just three of 13 shots from behind the arc and finished with 36 points. He was just 2-of-8 shooting two-pointers.
