Wolves allow G Daniels to seek trade (AP)
The Minnesota Timberwolves say they have given veteran guard Antonio Daniels permission to seek a trade. If Daniels and his agent cannot work out a deal, the Timberwolves will buy him out. Washington Wizards' Antonio Daniels drives to the basket against the Detroit Pistons' Arron Afflalo (28) and Antonio McDyess during the second quarter of an NBA basketball game in Washington, Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008. The Wizards won 107-94.

Surely there was no way this was happening again. The Washington Wizards, mired at the bottom of the Eastern Conference, were down 17 in the second quarter at home and showing no life whatsoever. It was enough to make a coach start pacing the bench. "I just walked down and said 'We're better than we're playing,"' coach Ed Tapscott said.

Wizards must decide on Arenas, Jamison (AP)
The Washington Wizards sang a familiar tune in the aftermath of a third consecutive first-round series loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The words were almost cut-and-paste from a year ago. "Who knows what happens if we have a healthy team?" point guard Antonio Daniels said. "If we was whole, who knows what would have happened?" All-Star forward Caron Butler said.

J.J. Redick scored a career-high 18 points and Marcin Gortat had a career-high 12 points and 11 rebounds, leading the Orlando Magic to a 103-83 victory over the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night in a meaningless regular-season finale for two playoff-bound teams. Andray Blatche led Washington with 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Nick Young scored 14.

Caron Butler scored 33 points and Antawn Jamison added 21 points and 12 rebounds, leading the Washington Wizards to a 108-86 win over the Seattle SuperSonics on Sunday. It was Butler's third game of 30 or more points, and the second consecutive game the Wizards won by more than 20 -- the first time that's happened since December 2004.

Daniels set to return to Wizards lineup (AP)
With Antonio Daniels set to return to their starting lineup, the Washington Wizards waived guard Mike Wilks on Monday. Wilks played in four games and averaged 1.3 points, 1.5 rebounds and 11 minutes. Washington was his eighth NBA club since he started with the Atlanta Hawks during the 2002-03 season. The Wizards signed Wilks after Daniels sprained his right knee in a game Dec.

Wizards coach Eddie Jordan said the entire team participated in a shootaround before the game. But Arenas' injury was disclosed when the lineups were announced. "We have just-in-case plans in place," Jordan said when asked before the game about Arenas. "We know it's a tough deal for him." Antonio Daniels will start in place of Arenas, who is averaging 22.

LeBron plays little in Cavaliers' loss (AP)

Washington Wizards' Gilbert Arenas, right, passes the ball past Cleveland Cavaliers' Larry Hughes, left, and Daniel Gibson in the second quarter of a preseason NBA basketball game Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007, in Cleveland.

Exhibition? Excruciating was more fitting. It's a good thing the Cleveland Cavaliers and Washington Wizards have a few more weeks to work out the kinks. Antonio Daniels scored 12 points, Gilbert Arenas had nine in his first game back from offseason knee surgery and the Wizards beat the Cavaliers 81-62 on Tuesday night in an NBA preseason matchup of playoff teams from last season.
