Ewing, Olajuwon linked again, this time in Hall
Hakeem Olajuwon, Patrick Ewing and Pat Riley were enshrined into the Basketball Hall of Fame on Friday night, but it was inductee Dick Vitale who, as expected, stole the show. Others in the class, which also included Adrian Dantley, Detroit Pistons and Shock owner Bill Davidson and former Immaculata University coach Cathy Rush, gave speeches. But the ESPN commentator held court, preaching with passion for almost 30 minutes about everything from basketball to broadcasting to family.

Ewing, Olajuwon, Riley among 7 elected to Hall
Hakeem Olajuwon, Patrick Ewing, coach Pat Riley and four others have been elected to basketball's Hall of Fame. Also among the Class of 2008 are Adrian Dantley, coach Cathy Rush, broadcaster Dick Vitale and NBA team owner Bill Davidson. The announcement was made Monday in San Antonio, site of the men's Final Four. Induction is Sept. 4-6 in Springfield, Mass., home of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Hakeem Olajuwon and Patrick Ewing, who battled for NCAA and NBA titles, and Miami Heat coach Pat Riley were selected as finalists Friday for the Basketball Hall of Fame. Holdover candidates Chris Mullin, Adrian Dantley, Dennis Johnson and Golden State coach Don Nelson also are among the 15 candidates for enshrinement. Olajuwon and Ewing both played in three Final Fours, with Ewing's Georgetown team beating Olajuwon's Houston squad for the 1984 national championship.
